Soo the other day I was embroidering on the sofa and had an open pair of scissors with me on the sofa and I moved positions with enough force to put the entire blade (cutterbee) into my foot. Needless to say I started freaking out with scissors in my foot but luckily my boyfriend was home, and he is an EMT so all the better. I still can't quite walk on my foot but luckily it was not bad. They say don't run with scissors but never don't sit with them!Today in Santa Barbara we had snow! It is insane, I have lived in California my whole life and never heard of it snowing on a southern california beach town but it did, and lots of it! Granted its in the mountain range right here but theyre not high mountains and only a ten minute drive from dowtown. We built a snowman, named Eddy. The contrast of snow covered agave and succulents was one of my favourite things. Unfortunately I loaded my film camera improperly and wont have any super neat pictures of it but have a few phone ones. enjoy!

Gnomes and shepherds pie
So this week I cooked a shepherds pie for my boyfriend. My dads from England and makes a mean pie and so I thought I would give it a try.

My dad doesn't use recipes and any time you ask him how it's done he says add heat. When you say how hot he says how ever fast you want it done and when you say how long he says it's done when you can smell it. It's a precise science haha. Well he gave me a few tips and I attempted and my pie came out amazing! I was so impressed with myself.

I finally finished all of my gnomes too. Now all I have to do is write a little note for one and plant it in the neighbours garden.

Finally I'll leave you with a picture of the most adorable old couple ever on the beach the other day, I can't wait to be like them in 50 years <3

getting back
So I gave up for a bit on this just cause I follow a handful of great blogs and dont feel like Im reching anyone, I dont have the family that makes all these other blogs so fun sometimes, but Im going to try now and get more involved and see what happens :]
Im recently unemployed now, the Borders books I worked at lost the lease and shut down, which is unfortunate since the store was such a beautiful three story architectual piece in the heart of downtown santa barbara. Oh well it was a good 2+ years of my life and I met so many people there that I will never forget.
So now my new occupation......
Housewife!!
I am so excited for this new role. My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 5 years and live together already but now Im going to be the perfect housewife, cleaning, cooking and finishing up all my crafts. So far I've been cooking some pretty awesome meals: homemade chicken pot pies, balsamic pork chops and swordfish with fruit salsa(ive never cooked fish ever!). Its just for the next few months until we move to LA and I can get a new job, the SB job market is too difficult to even bother at this point. Cant wait to finish all my crafts too and organize the house.

new embroidered canvases.
For my little sisters birthday, she's 14, I started making a set of canvases to go in her newly painted purple/lavender room. I painted the canvases and used a lace detail to add some extra character. I then embroidered the things she had picked out. I like the way they turned out and still have one more to make, I need to find a pattern that we like. The picture doesn't show it but there are some seed beads sewn into one of the black lines, and a chain stitch was also used on one of the upper silver strands.
My favourite, I used the satin thread too which really makes it pop when you see it in person.
