finished!

Finally I took pictures of all the crafts I have finished in the month without internet. We have been decorating and unpacking like mad and it's starting to feel like home. I have so many ideas, mostly from pinterest, for our apartment and can't wait to start on new things.


The day of the dead canvas I posted a while back when it was incomplete and is finally done and ready for its home on our wall.


My scrapbook pillow is coming along. I still have the task of doing the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace which are gonna be hard with the small details, and a few other pieces on there but its coming along nicely.

I finally finished my recipe box. I have had it a while but stayed unfinished wood but I painted it and decoupaged relevant photos on it for my new kitchen.

And last but not least is the rug I crocheted! I had a bunch of old sheets that my last roommates left that I moved with us to protect furniture and then thought of this to repurpose them. It was a super easy project just time consuming and hurts your hand after a while. I used 2 twin size sheets and got a rug maybe 2 feet around, its home is in the kitchen so my feet are comfy when I do the dishes :]

Scrapbook Pillow

Im plugging along on my pillow and its coming along nicely, even though I've only finished one 'memory' on it but I'm happy with it and getting more and more excited. Heres a picture(sorry its not that great I didnt have any sunlight at the time) and a picture of the original photo that I was modeling it after, this is the street that Jason and I stayed on in England with my aunt. Enjoy!

New project!

The only thing I need is something to inspire me and distract me from all the things I need to finish...oh well!!

I was inspired by these Sundance embroidered pillows and decided to make my own and put things from our London trip on a pillow for our giant sofa. Just got back from Michaels and got some thread and gonna start printing out and carbon transfering to my fabric. Can't wait to update the progress.

Only 6 more days til my boyfriend and I go on our London adventure. I am so excited for all the thrifting and hipstamatic to come. In preparation I actually got my boyfriend crafting. He embroidered a pirate ship to make a luggage tag. This was his first embroidery and I was very impressed. I sewed it to some black denim and used an old pleather bracelet as the tie on. Not so bad :)

new crafts and the boyfriends crafting too!

Made a trip to michaels yesterday which was very successful.

I got a gnome that I can paint myself! I am obsessed with gnomes so im excited to put my own twist on it. I got a second that I am going to hide in a neighbors yard with a little note, I'll keep you updated.

My boyfriend got a wood pirate ship, Michaels have the best little wood kits that are usually only $1. He's painting as I type.

I finished my vintage postcard diary yesterday and i cant wait to add little things everyday and look back on them later, it will also help me with my scrapbooking later. Im thinking about paper clipping ticket stubs etc to them as well but Ill see.

Finally my grandpas embroidery is coming along but still a bit of work.

new embroidered canvases.

For my little sisters birthday, she's 14, I started making a set of canvases to go in her newly painted purple/lavender room. I painted the canvases and used a lace detail to add some extra character. I then embroidered the things she had picked out. I like the way they turned out and still have one more to make, I need to find a pattern that we like.
The picture doesn't show it but there are some seed beads sewn into one of the black lines, and a chain stitch was also used on one of the upper silver strands.
My favourite, I used the satin thread too which really makes it pop when you see it in person.

So much to share!

So I had a fabulous weekend, finished a few different crafts for my anniversary (4 years ahh!). Now I can solely focus on my embroidery of my grandpa and then my day of the dead canvas that I feel I have been working on forever cause I always get sidetracked with another project. So Sunday we went to the Santa Barbara zoo, and whale watching too. No whales but saw some dolphins and sea lions and had an amazinggg day. I also got my new vacuum in the mail and I dont even think you could comprehend how excited I was, I'm gonna be a vacuuming fiend.

The embroidery of my grandpa, its coming along slowly cause im doing some really detailed stitches. (sorry I can't figure out how to flip the picture :[ )My gift from my boyfriend, theyre folded dollars made in to hearts.His girft from me, it's an inside joke but basically when we first met I wrote that and tacked it to my wall, for this I copied the original paper that is no longer up and embroidered it.

And finally my day of the dead canvas that i'm also working on. Cant wait for it to be done.

So in memoriam of my Papa who passed peacefully but suddenly this last friday I am going to embroider a portrait of his army photo. Im really excited to start working on this and throw it up on the wall. Wish me luck!
